Jeff Roman
Pastor, First Baptist Church of Tolland
Jeff Roman has served in the U.S Army from 1976 through 1996 and it was during this time, in 1994, he became a Christian. His call to ministry began one year later. He was teaching an adult Sunday school at the time for First Baptist Church, Copperas Cove, Texas, and from there his life took a steady course into the ministry. He truly sensed that God wanted him to completely dedicate his life to Him as Pastor.
His ministry began as Deacon of the First Baptist Church, Copperas Cove, TX, where he was ordained in 1995 and where he also served as the Minister of Youth. Two years later in 1997, at this same church, he was licensed to the ministry and became the Associate Pastor. Jeff Roman was ordained as a Pastor in March of 1999, by the Talty Baptist Church, Talty, Texas. Jeff was than called to serve in Virginia, where he was Pastor of Enon Baptist Church in Roanoke, from 2001 through Oct.,2003.
Jeff never intended to leave Virginia so soon, but tragedy struck when his brother was killed in a motorcycle accident in June of 2003. God impressed upon his heart that he should be in Connecticut to be closer to his parents. He sent only one resume and felt that if this was truly God’s will for him to move, he would get the job.
God answered that prayer! Please read the Journal Inquirer article published in Nov. 2003 announcing the new Pastor of FBCT.
Pastor Jeff is responsible for leading the church to have an independent dependent relationship with Jesus Christ. His only desire is to be obedient, and serve and love Him with all his heart, mind and soul-wherever He may lead him. He faithfully preaches the Word of God to reveal God’s attributes so that we may also come to know and love the Lord God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. He oversees and monitors outreach and discipleship programs; conducts Biblically-based counseling, ordinances, weddings, and funerals as required; visits the sick and homebound.
He has an Associates Degree in Management from Hawaii Pacific University (1990), Diploma of Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2001), and a Master of Arts in Religion from Hartford Seminary (April 2006).
Pastor Jeff and his wife, Maritza live in Tolland. They have three sons, Kevin, Brian and Ryan.
Jeff’s personal interests include reading, running, hiking and spending time with his family.
