What is a Small Group?

Ideally, a small group consists of a leader and 6 to 8 members. There are no set rules for the make-up of a group with regard to age, gender, marital status, etc; instead, the groups tend to form up based on factors impacting ease of attendance…such as meeting location and meeting day and time.  Spouses typically remain together unless requested otherwise.  Periodically (but not more often than annually), the group memberships are “reorganized” to promote new friendships.

Why Have Small Groups?

  • To foster Christian fellowship and intimacy of our Church body
  • To grow our intimacy with Christ
  • To provide a forum for open, free flowing Christian discussion
  • To create the foundation for what might effectively be considered “Home Churches”.

What Do Small Groups Do?

Small groups hold regular informal/casual meetings to enjoy Christian fellowship together, discuss the Bible or other Christian study material and pray.  The focus is on “discussion”.  Typically, meetings are held in member’s homes and are scheduled based on the availability of the members.  All groups study a common set of material during a given period.
